Emerging Power Inc. (EPI), the renewable energy arm of Nickel Asia Corporation, has announced a new partnership with Mabuhay Energy Corporation (MECO), a licensed retail electricity supplier (RES), to provide clean electricity from two solar power plants in Zambales.
The collaboration involves EPI’s subsidiaries—Jobin SQM, Inc. (JSI) and Northern Palawan Power Generation Corporation—supplying MECO with a portion of the output from the 72.128-megawatt peak (MWp) Subic New PV Power Plant and the upcoming 70-MWp Cawag Solar Power Plant (Phase 1).
“We are honored to have been chosen by MECO as a partner in expanding their business of delivering clean and sustainable energy to their RES customers,” said EPI President and CEO Roy Joseph S. Fernandez. “Through our expanding solar portfolio, which includes the Subic and Cawag power plants, we steadfastly aim to contribute to the Philippines’ renewable energy goals which should help enhance the country’s energy security in the near term.”
EPI, through JSI, already owns and operates two solar facilities in Subic and is actively developing the Cawag plant as part of its broader renewable energy push across the country. The agreement is positioned as a key part of EPI’s mission to “drive the Philippines’ transition to sustainable energy through large-scale renewable initiatives.”
MECO, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Aviva Group of Companies, has been providing energy solutions since 2017. The company has quickly become one of the country’s fastest-growing RES providers by offering “competitive, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions.” With the inclusion of solar power from EPI, MECO aims to “expand its reach and drive an eco-friendly energy future.”
