Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) is mobilizing its personnel and equipment to ensure stable electricity service across over 3,000 polling precincts, canvassing centers, and vital election sites during the midterm elections.

Meralco has assured its customers of reliable power during the 2025 midterm elections, saying its personnel are already on standby, ready to respond to any electricity service issues that may arise.

Joe R. Zaldarriaga, Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications, emphasized that while no major power disruptions occurred during previous elections, the company has implemented contingency plans to address isolated outages or interruptions. “Our personnel are prepared to respond 24/7, with crews strategically stationed across our franchise area. Our customer care group is also on standby to resolve any electricity-related concerns before, during, and after the elections,” Zaldarriaga said.

To further strengthen preparedness, Meralco has mobilized over 160 generator sets and 470 floodlights to strategic locations, ensuring quick response to any power issues. The company also urged the public to avoid flying kites near power lines, as they could disrupt service. Additionally, Meralco advised polling center staff to avoid using appliances like rice cookers and electric fans, which could overload facilities.

Since last year, Meralco has been coordinating with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), Department of Energy (DOE), and other energy stakeholders to enhance its readiness for the midterm polls. Part of these efforts included inspecting schools designated as polling precincts and conducting maintenance to ensure distribution network stability.

Customers who encounter power outages or other issues can contact Meralco via the MyMeralco app or through official social media channels on Facebook (www.facebook.com/meralco) and Twitter (@meralco).
