Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has commissioned a new smart substation in Pasig City to address the area’s increasing power demands and improve the reliability and flexibility of electricity distribution.
The Arcovia Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Substation, recently finished by the country’s largest electricity distributor, is equipped with two sub-transmission lines that will provide improved service to a growing number of commercial and industrial clients. Among the many beneficiaries of the new facility are Arcovia City, E-PLDT’s Vitro Pasig Data Center, ComClark Network and Technology, and Universal Robina Corporation.
In a statement, Meralco highlighted its continuous commitment to investing in infrastructure improvements to maintain safe, stable, and reliable electricity service across all its franchise areas. “Meralco actively invests in the improvement of its distribution system to ensure the delivery of safe, stable, and reliable electricity service to its customers,” the company stated.
The launch of the Arcovia GIS Substation aligns with Meralco’s broader modernization initiatives, particularly in high-growth urbanized zones like Pasig, where energy demand continues to rise amidst rapid commercial development.
