MABUHAY Energy Corporation (MECO) has entered into a Retail Aggregation Program (RAP) agreement with Green Cross Inc., enabling the longtime Filipino household products manufacturer to access competitive electricity rates for its operations.
The deal allows Green Cross to consolidate the energy demand of its 11 facilities, meeting the 500 kW threshold set by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to participate in the competitive retail electricity market. The signing ceremony was held on July 14 at the Green Cross main office in Muntinlupa City, with executives from both companies in attendance.
The agreement marks a significant milestone in MECO’s push to expand the RAP, a program designed to bring transparent pricing, supplier choice, and stronger consumer protection to qualified electricity users. MECO Executive Chairman Sherwin G. Hing highlighted the company’s commitment to service, stating, “We will make sure that we will be of service to your company. This is going to be a long-term partnership, and we sincerely thank you for the trust you have given to us.”
Green Cross Vice President for Manufacturing Excellence Sandy Chan welcomed the partnership: “We’re really looking forward to a long-term partnership. We’re grateful for the opportunity to do business together, and I’m confident that we can work out everything that needs to be worked out in the future.”
Green Cross, known for brands like Green Cross Alcohol and Zonrox, has operated for over 73 years and joins a growing list of companies leveraging aggregation to unlock cost efficiencies in power procurement.
The partnership supports the broader implementation of the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA), aligning with the ERC’s goals to democratize access to more flexible and economical electricity options for medium-sized consumers.
