Alternergy Wins Five Projects in DOE’s 4th Green Energy Auction

Renewable power pioneer Alternergy Holdings Corp. has secured five projects under the Department of Energy’s (DOE) 4th Green Energy Auction. This marks another significant milestone in its nationwide expansion.

The DOE released on Friday the preliminary list of accepted bids from the September 2 auction. Alternergy confirmed that five of its qualified bids were successful, covering three renewable technologies across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao

The company’s winning bids include one onshore wind project each in Luzon and Visayas, two floating solar projects in Luzon, and one solar-plus-energy storage project in Mindanao.

“We are delighted to learn of our successful participation under the DOE’s Green Energy Auction. Our Triple Play strategy to expand our project pipeline with new renewable technologies in floating solar and solar plus battery storage, on top of our core strength in developing onshore wind, finally paid off,” said Alternergy President Gerry P. Magbanua.

Alternergy said the results affirm its efforts to pursue a nationwide pipeline and diversify its portfolio beyond its established wind projects. The company added that further details will follow pending DOE’s final confirmation of the winning bids.

Founded by a pioneering group of renewable energy advocates, Alternergy currently has projects under advanced construction, including wind, solar, and run-of-river hydro developments. The company is targeting 500 megawatts of additional capacity by 2026 as part of its “Road to 500MW” growth strategy.
