1,700 Seedlings Planted in Prime Infra’s New Sustainability Program

Prime Infrastructure Capital Inc. (Prime Infra) has kicked off a tree planting initiative in its waste management sites, thus marking what it calls a concrete step in embedding sustainability across its business.

The program, dubbed Prime Kalikasan: Greener Prime, Greater Future, was held on September 5 in Porac, Pampanga, and on September 6 in Barangay Binaliw, Cebu City. According to the company, the effort reflects its push to “reinforce our commitment to embed sustainability across our businesses and deliver positive impact on the environment.”

In Pampanga, close to 150 participants joined the activity, including students and teachers from Planas High School and Planas Elementary School, residents of Katutubo Village, representatives from the Porac local government, and employees of Prime Infra Foundation and Prime Waste Solutions (PWS). Volunteers planted around 700 Ylang-Ylang seedlings, which will also serve as bio-fencing.

Meanwhile in Cebu, PWS workers planted 1,000 seedlings of both native and fruit-bearing species. These included Narra, Molave, Banana, Rambutan, Agdao, Mabolo, Ylang-Ylang, Mamalis, and Guyabano. Once fully grown, the trees will provide natural barriers, help improve air quality, and support biodiversity.

PWS, the waste management arm of Prime Infra, operates large-scale materials recovery facilities in Cebu and Pampanga. The unit is focused on maximizing resource recovery through sorting, segregation, and recycling.

Prime Infra stressed that initiatives like Prime Kalikasan are part of a broader sustainability framework that guides its operations in energy, clean water, and waste management. “Through Prime Kalikasan, we reinforce our commitment to embed sustainability across our businesses and deliver positive impact on the environment,” the company said.
