Power Philippines, PERPI forge media partnership to advance energy knowledge

Power Philippines has formalized a partnership with the Philippine Energy Research and Policy Institute (PERPI) to strengthen the dissemination of energy research, policy insights, and public awareness campaigns. The agreement was sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by both organizations.

Representing PERPI were Deputy Executive Director Atty. Angel Chona Grace I. Valero-Nuñez and Dexter S. Pajarillo, MEES, MMBM, Chief Science Research Specialist of the Research Development and Policy Utilization Division. Signing for Power Philippines were Editor-in-Chief Ana Marie Macuja-Tanglao and Business Development Manager Ana Khristine Claveria.

Under Republic Act No. 11572, PERPI was established as a government institute mandated to maximize digital technologies for the storage and dissemination of energy data and research. Power Philippines, meanwhile, is the country’s only online news platform dedicated exclusively to the energy sector.

The partnership commits Power Philippines to provide media coverage, publicity support, and digital content collaboration for PERPI’s programs and activities. at no cost. In return, PERPI will grant early access to processed research outputs, policy recommendations, and interviews with energy experts to help ensure that critical findings reach a broader audience.

“This is not just a signing of an agreement—it is the coming together of research and journalism, of knowledge and storytelling, to move our nation closer to a clean energy future,” said Power Philippines Editor-in-Chief Ana Marie Macuja-Tanglao during the signing ceremony.

Tanglao emphasized PERPI’s role in evidence-based policymaking, saying the institute “was created to provide the Philippines with a strong foundation of data, research, and analysis to guide the most important energy decisions of our time.” She added that Power Philippines serves a complementary role as a platform “where conversations begin, where ideas are shared, and where the voices of decision-makers, investors, regulators, and ordinary citizens can be heard together.”

The collaboration will also enable training sessions on communications and digital engagement, while facilitating joint advocacy campaigns to promote sustainable energy transition and innovation.

“This is more than a media partnership; it is a shared mission to inform, empower, and inspire,” Tanglao said. “Today, we take a step forward—together—toward a cleaner, smarter, and more resilient energy future for the Filipino people.”
