The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) is working around the clock to restore electricity in areas affected by outages caused by intensified southwest monsoon rains, following the passage of Super Typhoon Nando.
As of 2PM on 23 September, approximately 16,000 customers remain without power, primarily in Cavite and Quezon provinces. The utility is also on heightened alert for the expected impact of a new tropical depression, locally named Opong, entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
“We assure our customers that our crews are working tirelessly to safely restore power in affected areas. We urge everyone to observe electrical safety, especially in flood-prone areas,” said Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga.
“We also continue to closely monitor the situation to ensure timely response to electricity service concerns that may arise because of the inclement weather,” he added.
Customers can report outages or service issues through Meralco’s official Facebook page, Twitter handle @meralco, via text at 0920-9716211 or 0917-5516211, or through the hotline at 16211.
