BOI launches POWER-EE program to strengthen energy efficiency compliance among enterprises

The Board of Investments (BOI) has launched the Energizing Industry Development Initiative Series through a capacity-building session titled “POWER-EE: Promoting Operational Wins and Energy Resilience for BOI-Registered Enterprises in Energy Efficiency,” held at the BOI Main Office in Makati City.

The program brings together BOI-registered enterprises to help them better understand the Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EE&C) Act. These range from key compliance obligations such as annual reporting, energy audits, and the employment of certified energy practitioners, as well as the investment incentives available under the CREATE MORE Act.

“Energy efficiency is no longer an option,” said BOI Executive Director Fe Del Rosario in her opening remarks, adding that the session aims to guide registered firms in understanding the salient provisions of the EE&C Act and integrating them into their operations.

In a video presentation, Atty. Patrick Aquino, Director IV of the Department of Energy’s Energy Utilization Management Bureau (EUMB), discussed the policy framework and achievements under the EE&C Act. Alexander Ablaza, President of the Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2), emphasized the need to improve energy efficiency across all sectors to enhance resilience and reduce energy intensity nationwide.

BOI-Resource Based Industries Service (RBIS) representatives Romalyn Manalo and Arrianne Ada Antoni outlined the registration process for EE&C projects and detailed how businesses can qualify for CREATE MORE incentives.

Meanwhile, Francis Peñaflor, Acting Director of RBIS, spotlighted the importance of stronger collaboration among investment promotion agencies (IPAs), national government agencies (NGAs), and local government units (LGUs) to accelerate energy-efficiency investments and help industries meet compliance standards.
