The Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) is positioning itself as a model for sustainable industrial development, with plans to transition to a 100% renewable energy mix.
Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) administrator and CEO Hussein P. Pangandaman announced the initiative during his keynote address at the Arangkada Philippines Forum 2025 held September 26 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City, as reported by the Daily Tribune.
Pangandaman said the shift to full renewable energy is part of FAB’s long-term strategy to boost its competitiveness and attract more investors seeking sustainable operations. FAB already holds advantages over other investment hubs, including its strategic location, its special charter, and a streamlined approach to doing business.
Beyond energy transition, AFAB is also focusing on expanding Business-to-Government (B2G) opportunities, creating new avenues for partnerships with government agencies, private investors, and industry leaders.
The Arangkada Forum gathered policymakers, business leaders, and investors to discuss regulatory reforms and market opportunities in the Philippines, serving as a platform for initiatives such as FAB’s renewable energy agenda.
How can industrial hubs like FAB accelerate the shift to renewable energy while maintaining their role as competitive investment destinations?
