Prime Infra Foundation and Prime Waste Solutions (PWS) Cebu provided much-needed relief goods and drinking water to communities affected by the recent magnitude 6.9 earthquake in Cebu.
Prime Infra Foundation and Prime Waste Solutions (PWS) Cebu have extended relief to 2,000 households affected by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that hit Cebu earlier this month.
On October 6, relief goods and drinking water were distributed across three barangays in San Remigio municipality, benefiting Barangay Luyang (815 households), Barangay Victoria (755 households), and Barangay Kinawahan (430 households). Packages contained ready-to-eat food packs, noodles, canned goods, and five-gallon bottles of drinking water sourced from Manila Water Foundation.
The initiative was carried out in partnership with Cebu City’s local government, police, the Philippine Army, and volunteers from PWS, Cebu Water, and Barangay Binaliw residents.
“Prime Infra Group’s relief operations reflect the true spirit of bayanihan in the aftermath of the earthquake in Cebu,” said Cara Peralta, Market Sector Lead for Waste at Prime Infra. “We wish to thank Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival for his support in Prime Infra’s relief efforts to assist affected communities.”
Barangay leaders expressed their gratitude.
“On behalf of all the people of Barangay Kinawahan, we are grateful for the big help that Prime Infra extended, especially the drinking water, as this is our number one need,” Barangay Kinawahan Captain Albertine Tuñacao said.
Barangay Victoria Captain Edgar Montecalvo added, “A big thank you to everyone who helped us. The donations we received are more than enough to supply our barangay.”
“The donations received by the barangay are not enough to cover all households, that’s why I am very much grateful to everyone who helped,” Hermenia Dahuya, Barangay Luyang Captain, said.
Prime Infra also provided relief packs to residents of Barangay Binaliw affected by recent flooding. PWS Cebu operates a materials recovery facility in the area, processing up to 1,000 tons of municipal solid waste daily, underscoring the company’s ongoing presence and engagement in the province.
