Renewable energy takes another step in the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) as the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) partners with Tai Yang 1 Power Inc. for the construction of a 25-megawatt (MW) solar power facility inside the Freeport.
The project, as reported on their Facebook page, will rise on a 27-hectare property and is among the largest renewable energy developments within the FAB to date. Once operational, the solar facility is expected to help meet the Freeport’s increasing power demand and support AFAB’s transition toward more reliable and sustainable energy sources.
AFAB Administrator and CEO Hussein Pangandaman said the initiative supports the Authority’s direction to diversify power generation as the Freeport continues to attract more industries and investments.
Tai Yang 1 Power Inc., led by President Vic O. Lacaya III, has already secured a business license from AFAB and is in the process of completing its registration as a FAB enterprise, which allows the company to begin site preparation for construction.
The project also forms part of the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Auction Program (GEA-4), where Tai Yang 1 Power’s accepted capacity offer of 16.5 MW will be supplied to the national grid once the plant becomes operational.
Tai Yang 1 Power Inc. has been an active participant in AFAB’s renewable initiatives, previously joining solar roofing projects within the Freeport’s industrial area through Citicore Solar Bataan Inc. and Sustainable Asia Renewable Assets. These efforts support AFAB’s ongoing push to integrate clean-energy systems across its industrial and commercial zones.
Do you think renewable projects like this will help industrial hubs such as the Freeport Area of Bataan achieve full energy sustainability in the coming years?
