The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) is close to fully restoring electricity in areas hit by Typhoon Uwan (Fung-Wong), with fewer than 15,000 customers still without power as of early afternoon Tuesday.
Data released at 1PM today show only 14,995 customers, less than 1% of Meralco’s 8.2 million customer base, remain affected. Most of the pending restorations are in Cavite and Bulacan, including 917 customers in still-flooded communities, where crews are completing “last-mile” repairs.
“Through the tireless efforts of our crews and personnel, we are now down to the last mile of our restoration activities,” said Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga. “We are grateful for the patience and understanding of our customers as we continuously work on ensuring that power is safely restored to the last remaining customers, which we target to complete within the day.”
Meralco confirmed it has suspended all disconnection activities for bills covering November 4 to December 31, 2025, in line with an Energy Regulatory Commission directive. The utility is also extending flexible payment options.
“We recognize that many families are focused on recovery and rebuilding. We will implement our no-disconnection policy for the November and December bills to ease the worries of our customers,” Zaldarriaga said.
Meralco urged customers to remain vigilant about electrical safety in areas recently affected by flooding and to report outages via its official Facebook page, Twitter account (@meralco), hotlines 16211, or text numbers 0920-9716211 and 0917-5516211.
