Calatagan South Beach (CaSoBe), a leisure and residential resort development in Batangas, has shifted its operations to 100% renewable energy after securing a supply agreement with ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES), marking another large commercial site entering the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Option Program (GEOP).
“This transition to 100% renewable energy is a significant milestone for CaSoBe and aligns perfectly with our commitment to environmental stewardship,” said Erickson Manzano, President and CEO of Landco Pacific Corporation. “By partnering with ACEN RES, we are not only ensuring a greener operation for our resort but also offering our guests a truly sustainable and responsible leisure experience.”
The transition places CaSoBe among a growing number of commercial and tourism facilities opting into GEOP, a mechanism seen by industry watchers as a key driver of voluntary renewable energy uptake in the competitive retail electricity market. ACEN RES currently holds a 57% market share in GEOP, based on the latest Competitive Retail Electricity Market report from the Energy Regulatory Commission.
CaSoBe is a 15-hectare master-planned development in Calatagan, Batangas, featuring resort accommodations such as Crusoe Cabins, Apollo Aeropods, and Cupola, alongside residential and commercial components. It is accredited by the Department of Tourism as a four-star resort and is positioned as a flagship project in Landco’s leisure portfolio.
To mark the shift, ACEN RES awarded CaSoBe its “Powered by Renewable Energy” badge, a recognition introduced in 2022 for facilities that fully transition to renewable energy. ACEN RES said close to 100 facilities nationwide now carry the badge.
“ACEN RES is proud to support Landco Pacific’s CaSoBe in its decisive transition to 100% clean energy. This commitment reflects a growing awareness among major leisure destinations to embrace sustainability,” said Sheila Mina, Vice President and Head of Account Management at ACEN RES. “We are delighted to award CaSoBe the ‘Powered by Renewable Energy’ badge, recognizing its leadership in environmental action and encouraging more businesses to follow suit.”
