Shell Energy PH inks 15-year RE deal with Minebea Mitsumi

Shell Energy Philippines (SEPH) has entered into a long-term renewable energy supply agreement with Minebea Mitsumi Philippines to support the latter’s transition to cleaner energy across its local operations.

The agreement will cover multiple Minebea Mitsumi facilities in Santo Tomas, Batangas; Mariveles, Bataan; Danao City, Cebu; and the City of Naga, Cebu.

Under the deal, SEPH will supply renewable energy to these sites, leveraging its capabilities in power marketing and trading. The company is a direct participant in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) and provides energy solutions to commercial and industrial customers.

Announcing the partnership, SEPH President and CEO Bernd Krukenberg said, “Our long-term partnership with Minebea Mitsumi Philippines is now official–a 15-year renewable energy supply agreement that will support their bold commitment to journeying towards operating on renewable energy.”

He added that the agreement marks “the first and most significant step in powering their Philippine operations with clean, reliable, and sustainable energy.”

Minebea Mitsumi, which has operated in the Philippines for decades, maintains a strong presence in the manufacturing and technology sectors, with facilities spread across key industrial locations.

Krukenberg emphasized that the collaboration goes beyond a typical supply arrangement, describing it as “more than just a power supply agreement- it’s a shared vision for energy transition and a concrete step toward reducing carbon emissions across one of the country’s largest manufacturing networks.”

SEPH, a wholly owned Shell entity, currently supplies power to more than 100 commercial and industrial customers under programs such as the Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) and the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP).

Both companies said the long-term agreement is intended to support efforts to reduce carbon emissions while ensuring stable energy supply for industrial operations.

Will long-term supply agreements like this accelerate uptake of programs such as RCOA and GEOP among major power users?
