CREC takes FinanceAsia Gold for Best Renewable Energy Company, multiple wins

Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation (CREC) secured multiple recognitions at the FinanceAsia Asia’s Best Companies Poll 2026, highlighting investor confidence as the company accelerates its renewable energy expansion in the Philippines.

CREC received the Gold award for Best Renewable Energy Company, alongside several market distinctions, including Silver for Best Small-Cap Company, Best Managed Company, and Most Committed to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, as well as Bronze for Best Investor Relations.

The company’s leadership was also recognized, with President and CEO Oliver Tan earning Silver for Best CEO, based on votes from institutional investors and financial analysts across Asia.

“Being recognized by FinanceAsia for 3 years reflects the trust placed in us, in our vision, and our ability to perform by the investment community,” Tan said.

“As we aggressively scale renewable energy capacity in support of the Philippines’ energy transition goals, we remain grounded in strong governance and long-term value creation,” he added.

The awards come as CREC pushes forward with its 5-gigawatt capacity target under its “5GW in 5 Years” program, a pipeline that aligns with the government’s clean energy push, including projects awarded through the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Auction Program.

Separately, sister firm Megawide Construction Corporation also garnered multiple awards, with Chairman Edgar Saavedra receiving Gold for Best CEO and Group CFO Jez Dela Cruz earning Silver for Best CFO. The group also took recognitions for management, ESG commitment, and small-cap performance.

“These recognitions speak of our culture within the Citicore-Megawide group – one built on accountability, technical prowess, and a commitment to a First World Philippines,” the company said in its official statement.

FinanceAsia, a Hong Kong-based capital markets publication, conducts its annual poll among regional investors and analysts, with results widely used as a benchmark for corporate governance, financial performance, and management credibility.

What does sustained investor recognition mean for CREC’s ability to deliver its 5GW pipeline—and how could this shape the pace of the Philippines’ clean energy transition?
