New Meralco substation strengthens power supply in Cavite

Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has energized a new substation in Cavite to support ever-growing electricity demand and improve reliability across key areas in the province.

The Island Cove Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Substation is designed to strengthen the distribution network serving Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, and Noveleta.

The project includes the installation of an 83-megavolt amperes (MVA) power transformer bank, along with 115 kilovolt (kV) and 34.5 kV GIS facilities, to increase the system’s capacity to handle higher loads.

The new substation is expected to benefit several major establishments, including Bacoor City Hall, SM City Bacoor, Cavite Medical Center, Binakayan Hospital and Medical Center, and Evo City, a development of Ayala Land Inc.

By enhancing the distribution infrastructure, the facility is expected to improve the reliability and stability of electricity service, particularly in areas experiencing sustained growth in demand.

Meralco said the project forms part of its broader efforts to strengthen its distribution system and ensure the delivery of safe, stable, and reliable electricity to its customers.

As demand continues to grow in Cavite, how can further infrastructure investments keep pace with the province’s rapid development?
