The government is set to receive more than 100 million liters of diesel this week, as the Department of Energy (DOE) moves to reinforce fuel supply amid persistent global oil market volatility.
In a statement on Monday, the DOE said two shipments under the Emergency Energy Security Program will arrive on April 21 and April 24, totaling 103.35 million liters. The deliveries form part of state-led efforts to stabilize domestic supply as geopolitical tensions—particularly in the Middle East—continue to disrupt global oil flows.
The third shipment, equivalent to 50.88 million liters, will arrive in Subic, while the fourth shipment, amounting to 52.47 million liters, is scheduled for delivery in Davao. Both cargoes are sourced from Singapore.
These incoming volumes follow earlier deliveries of 22.578 million liters from Japan on March 26 and 52.311 million liters on April 10, bringing cumulative government-secured diesel arrivals to over 178 million liters in less than a month.
The DOE said the shipments are part of the implementation of Executive Order No. 110, which mandates urgent interventions to safeguard the country’s fuel supply. The program is being carried out through Philippine National Oil Company-Exploration Corporation, which has been tasked to secure phased deliveries to support domestic inventory.
“As the Middle East conflict continues to affect global oil markets, our priority is to strengthen the Philippines’ energy security and supply—so that transport, businesses, and everyday life across the Philippines continue to be supported,” Energy Secretary Sharon S. Garin said.
The Department added it will continue coordinating with both government agencies and private industry players to monitor inventory levels, facilitate timely fuel distribution, and prevent bottlenecks in the supply chain.
