Power Ai shifts focus to C&I solar market in 2026

Power Ai Philippines is shifting more attention to commercial and industrial solar customers in the second half of 2026 after seeing strong residential demand in the first half of the year.

Engineer Charming Medina, Sales Director of Power Ai Philippines, said the company will continue building on its residential solar business while expanding into mid-commercial, commercial, industrial, and utility-scale segments.

“Mainly, we are continuing to set benchmark[s] in residential ones, but as I’ve mentioned before, we are stepping up our game. So this second half of 2026, we are prioritizing the C&I ones,” Medina told Power Philippines at the SNEC PV Power Expo in Shanghai.

C&I, or commercial and industrial, refers to solar systems used by businesses, factories, warehouses, malls, and other large power users.

Medina said Power Ai wants to establish itself beyond the household solar market as it looks at larger applications for solar, battery, and other renewable energy technologies.

“We want to put a name not only for the residential market, but starting with a mid-commercial up to utility scale,” she explained.

The shift follows a strong start to 2026 for Power Ai’s residential business. Medina said demand in the segment was stronger than expected, even for the company’s partner brands.

“We actually have a very good start in 2026 in [the] residential market. The growth is tremendous. So even our partner brands did not expect that demand from us,” she said.

Power Ai is also exploring different inverter, battery, and renewable energy technologies that it can introduce locally. Medina said the company wants to support renewable energy in the Philippines beyond solar, although details on specific initiatives were not yet disclosed.

“We are exploring different options for the inverters, for the batteries, and we are eyeing different innovations that we can put in or we can introduce in [the] Philippine market,” Medina said.

Medina said Power Ai is strengthening its after-sales support to stand out in what she described as a saturated Philippine solar market.

She said the company is expanding its presence nationwide through technical service centers and regional distributors to provide easier and more efficient after-sales support to customers and partners.

“We are strengthening our presence in different areas in the Philippines or nationwide by putting up different technical service centers, putting up different regional distributors that will aim to have a better presence and better or easier and efficient after-sales support,” she said.

Medina also stated that the solar sector still faces several challenges, including raw material scarcity, inconsistent supply due to stronger-than-expected Philippine demand, and the need to spread basic technical knowledge among Filipino consumers.

She also cited limited government support for existing solar companies, resistance to new technologies, and the perception among some utilities that solar companies are competitors rather than partners in supporting power supply.

To help address knowledge gaps, Medina said Power Ai plans to continue holding regular technical events with distributors and nationwide technical roadshows with partners.

“We committed to have every month a technical event with our distributors to continuously gain the presence in their specific areas,” she said.

“Power Ai is committed to make solar accessible, safe, and sustainable in the Philippines,” Medina concluded.

She added that the company wants more renewable energy innovations to be available locally so the Philippines can better keep pace with other countries that have been more open to different renewable energy technologies.

Power Ai’s C&I expansion reflects the broader shift in the Philippine solar market from household adoption toward larger business and industrial applications.
