BOI holds interagency meeting for 300-MW Nueva Ecija wind project

The Board of Investments (BOI) has stepped up efforts to advance the proposed 300-megawatt San Jose Wind Power Project by bringing together national agencies, local government units (LGUs), and the project’s developer to resolve permitting and regulatory requirements under the government’s Green Lane initiative.

More than 75 representatives from 30 government agencies, LGUs, the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA), and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) attended the June 19 interagency meeting, which focused on accelerating the processing of permits needed for the wind project in Lupao, Carranglan, and San Jose City in Nueva Ecija.

The meeting forms part of the government’s implementation of Executive Order No. 18, which created a Green Lane system to expedite strategic investments, including renewable energy projects.

BOI Investments Assistance Service Director Ernesto Delos Reyes Jr. said renewable energy has become “a strategic imperative” not only for reducing carbon emissions but also for ensuring “long-term energy security, price stability, and global competitiveness.”

CIP updated government agencies on the project’s ongoing feasibility studies, stakeholder consultations, and permitting activities.

In a recorded message, CIP Partner and Head of Asia-Pacific Przemyslaw Apoloniusz Lupa said the San Jose Wind Power Project reflects “the growing confidence of global investors in the Philippines’ renewable energy sector,” citing the country’s policy direction and government support for clean energy investments.

According to the developer, the proposed 300-MW facility is expected to contribute to the country’s renewable energy capacity while creating construction jobs, supporting local economic activity, and providing long-term benefits to host communities.

Danish Ambassador to the Philippines Franz-Michael S. Mellbin, who attended the meeting, emphasized the importance of balancing infrastructure development with stakeholder engagement, saying collaboration is essential to delivering “sustainable, affordable and reliable energy that Filipinos need and deserve.”

The meeting concluded with participating agencies discussing the remaining permitting requirements and next steps for the project.

Government representatives and stakeholders also signed a Manifestation of Support for Renewable Energy Transition and Environmental Stewardship to reaffirm their commitment to advancing clean energy development.

The San Jose Wind Power Project is being developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, a Denmark-based global investor in energy infrastructure.
