Construction is underway on the 50-megawatt (MW) Capantolan Solar Project in Sual, Pangasinan, with engineering, procurement, and construction contractor CEEC (ZEDPI) fully mobilized at the site.
Pacific Impact Development said equipment has already been delivered and civil works are in progress, as the project targets commercial operations by December 2026.
The Capantolan Solar Project is being developed by Pacific Impact Energy Corp., a subsidiary of Pacific Impact Development.
The solar facility was awarded under the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Auction Program Round 4 (GEA-4), which provides a contracted long-term market for the electricity it will supply to the Philippine grid.
Once operational, the project is expected to generate around 79 gigawatt-hours of clean electricity annually, equivalent to the power consumption of approximately 26,000 Filipino homes.
The facility is also expected to avoid about 41,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
“With construction already progressing on site, we are focused on delivering a project that contributes to the Philippines’ clean energy future,” Pacific Impact Development Managing Director James Timko said.
Pacific Impact Development announced on July 1 that the project has reached financial close, with equity funding provided by Gresham House funds and debt financing arranged by Philippine National Bank (PNB).
PNB Capital serves as the mandated lead arranger, while PNB–Trust Banking Group is acting as the facility agent and security trustee for the transaction.
Timko said the financing reflected the quality of the project, the strength of Pacific Impact’s partnerships with Gresham House and PNB, and the ability of the GEA-4 framework to attract international capital into Philippine renewable energy developments.
Can the Capantolan Solar Project maintain its construction schedule and begin supplying contracted renewable electricity to the grid by December 2026?
