Mount Malarayat taps Mabuhay Energy for retail power supply

Mount Malarayat Golf & Country Club has entered the competitive retail electricity market through a power supply agreement with Mabuhay Energy Corporation (MECO).

The agreement, signed on June 24, 2026, brings the 210-hectare sports and leisure estate under the Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) framework.

RCOA allows qualified large electricity consumers to choose their own licensed retail electricity supplier instead of relying solely on standard utility supply arrangements.

Under the deal, MECO will serve as Mount Malarayat’s retail electricity supplier and help manage the estate’s participation in the competitive market.

The arrangement is intended to allow Mount Malarayat to tailor its electricity procurement to its consumption patterns and improve the predictability of its power costs. The companies also linked the agreement to reduced exposure to sudden tariff increases and potential operating efficiencies.

Mount Malarayat operates a 27-hole championship golf course, hotel facilities, and country club amenities, making electricity a significant part of the estate’s operating requirements.

Executives from both companies attended the contract signing, including Mount Malarayat Golf & Country Club Chairman and President Antonio V. Turalba, Jr., Executive Vice-Chairman Jose Antonio L. Turalba, and General Manager Romeo V. Garcia, Jr.

MECO was represented by Chief Executive Officer Jacqueline Castillo, Chief Strategic Officer Daniell Mark Mangosing, and Assistant Vice President and Head of Sales, Marketing, and Regulatory Jhon Nikko Dimazana.

Can the partnership deliver the cost predictability and operating efficiencies cited by the companies?
