The Alimit hydroelectric power plant in Ifugao province of SN-Aboitiz Power Ifugao Inc. leads the list of the projects that have received Energy Projects of National Significance (EPNS) certification from the government.
Other projects that received ENPS certification were the petroleum service contract of the Philippine National Oil Company – ExplorationCorporation as well as the 14 transmission lines improvement projects of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, the Department of Energy told recently to BusinessMirror reporters.
AbotizPower and PNOC-EC’s project were both granted the EPNS certificate on May 27, while NGCP and NPC’s development projects were cited as an EPNS on May 2.
PNOC-EC’s petroleum service contract is currently in its pre development phase.
PNOC-EC is also responsible for the exploration, development, and production of the country’s oil, gas, and coal resources.
Under the EO 30, projects which are issued with EPNS certificates shall be prioritized by concerned government agencies within a 30-day period. It will be deemed approved if there’s no decision period within the specified time frame.
Around 281 out of 352 EPNS applications were approved since April 30, while 71 did not follow the needed requirements.
