Aboitiz Power Corp.’s board has greenlit the appointment of Danel Aboitiz as president and chief executive, effective July 1, 2024, following the retirement of Emmanuel Rubio on June 30, 2024.

Aboitiz, 42, currently serving as the company’s director and chief commercial and stakeholder engagement officer, has been tapped for the role, bringing with him a wealth of experience within the Aboitiz Group.

Aboitiz Power conveyed its confidence in Aboitiz’s leadership. His tenure in various directorships within the Aboitiz Group underscored his readiness for the role.

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) recognized the Aboitiz Group as the largest power generating company, boasting a 22.47% national market share and 5,745 megawatts (MW) of installed generating capacity (IGC).

Aboitiz’s involvement in the energy sector extends beyond Aboitiz Power, as he was appointed as the private sector representative for Mindanao in the Inter-Agency Investment Promotion Coordination Committee of the Department of Trade and Industry back in October 2023.

Additionally, he holds directorial positions in the Philippine Electricity Market Corp., vice-chairmanship in the Philippine Independent Power Producers Association, and vice-chairmanship of the Management Association of the Philippines’ energy committee.

Throughout his tenure in the Aboitiz Group, Aboitiz has played various roles and has been deeply engaged in the company’s business units, particularly in Aboitiz Power’s coal and oil sectors from 2016 to 2018 and in renewable power generation companies from 2010 to 2016.
