Meralco Power Academy (MPA) has unveiled Giga Summit 2025, a two-day event spotlighting artificial intelligence (AI) and nuclear power as game-changers for a sustainable energy future. Unlike previous summits, this year’s focus on AI-driven grid innovation and nuclear energy’s untapped potential signals a bold pivot toward cutting-edge solutions for the country’s growing power demands.
Scheduled for April 24 to 25 at The Fifth at Rockwell Center in Makati City, Giga Summit 2025, themed “The Fusion of Power and Intelligence,” will convene over 30 local and international experts, including leaders from MGEN Renewable Energy Inc., Electricité de France, Mitsubishi Power, and the International Atomic Energy Agency. The event aims to foster knowledge exchange and spark actionable strategies for a resilient power sector.
Day one will dive into sustainable power supply, with discussions on renewable energy and nuclear power’s role in securing long-term energy needs. Keynote sessions titled “Trailblazers: The Global Giants of Sustainable Power” will feature MGEN Renewable Energy Inc., Electricité de France, Mitsubishi Power, and Actis. A dedicated session, “The Case for a Nuclear-Powered Future,” facilitated by the IAEA, will include perspectives from experts in Canada, France, South Korea, Japan, and the US.
The second day shifts to “Power Grid Disruptors,” exploring distributed energy resources, virtual power plants, and battery energy storage systems. Industry heavyweights from Meralco, Huawei, and Microsoft will lead conversations on AI-driven grid transformation and crisis leadership, culminating in strategies for a future-proof distribution network.
“The Giga Summit 2025 is where vision meets action that will drive transformation in the ever-evolving landscape. As we unite local and global leaders on one stage, we are not just having conversations; we’re exploring the transformative power of AI in redefining the country’s energy future,” said MPA President and Meralco Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ronnie L. Aperocho.
Leaders from the Department of Energy, Philippine Senate, and Energy Regulatory Commission will also join, underscoring the summit’s role as a catalyst for policy and industry alignment.
