AllCard shifts to 100% renewable power with ACEN RES deal

AllCard Inc., a leading Philippines-based end-to-end card solutions provider and plastic card manufacturer, has transitioned its operations to 100% renewable energy through a supply partnership with ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES), marking another expansion of corporate renewable energy sourcing under the government’s Green Energy Option Program (GEOP).

In a disclosure on Friday, ACEN Corp. said the partnership allows the card solutions and manufacturing firm to source all of its electricity requirements from ACEN’s portfolio of solar, wind, and geothermal plants.

The move is expected to help AllCard avoid around 631 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually as the company integrates sustainability targets into its manufacturing operations.

The transaction was facilitated through the GEOP, a mechanism under the Renewable Energy Act of 2008 that allows qualified end-users with a peak demand of at least 100 kilowatts to directly source electricity from licensed renewable energy suppliers.

ACEN said its retail electricity arm currently holds a 65% share of the GEOP market, citing data from the Philippine Electricity Market Corp. (PEMC).

“At AllCard, we recognize that our growth must be synonymous with sustainability. Shifting to full renewable energy through ACEN RES is a pivotal step in reducing our carbon footprint while ensuring that our production processes remain resilient and future-ready,” said Aaron dela Paz, chief experience and operations officer of AllCard Inc. “We are happy to partner with ACEN RES to power our next decade of innovation with clean energy.”

“We are happy to support AllCard’s transition toward a sustainable future. This partnership reflects the growing commitment of Philippine businesses to integrate sustainability into their core operations,” said Tony Valdez, senior vice president and head of market transformation and retail at ACEN.

“By leveraging the Green Energy Option Program, we are enabling businesses like AllCard to make more deliberate energy choices that contribute to the country’s broader decarbonization goals,” he added.

ACEN, the Ayala group’s listed energy platform, said it currently has more than 7 gigawatts of attributable renewable energy capacity across projects in operation, under construction, and with signed agreements across the Asia-Pacific region.

The company has also committed to achieving 100% renewable energy generation and Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
