CleanTech, DENR launch Pangasinan reforestation drive

CleanTech Global Renewables, Inc. (CleanTech) has partnered with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 1 and five People’s Organizations (POs) to undertake a large-scale reforestation initiative in Pangasinan, marking what the company described as the first project of its kind in the Ilocos Region involving the DENR, community organizations, and the private sector.

The agreement, signed through CleanTech’s project company Tera Renewables 3 Corp., will cover approximately 317 hectares across several towns in Pangasinan and support the production, planting, and maintenance of 794,600 fruit-bearing and indigenous tree seedlings.

The Plantation Establishment Project aims to support forest restoration, biodiversity conservation, and community livelihood development. Under the agreement, the seedlings will be maintained over a five-year period, with a committed survivability rate of 85%.

The project forms part of CleanTech’s broader “Plant for Tomorrow” program, which consolidates the company’s environmental stewardship initiatives alongside the expansion of its renewable energy portfolio.

“Developing renewable energy projects is a long-term commitment, and so is taking care of our host communities and the environment,” said Aboy R. Castro, President and CEO of CleanTech.

“We are grateful to DENR Region 1 and our partners for helping us bring this commitment to life through Plant for Tomorrow. For us, planting is only the beginning. The real commitment is nurturing these initiatives so they continue to grow and create lasting impact,” he added.

Founded in 2014, CleanTech develops solar and wind energy projects and currently holds a development portfolio of approximately 4.8 gigawatts across solar, onshore wind, and offshore wind projects.
