The Department of Energy (DOE) is considering the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to boost the country’s potential to intercept problems in the energy sector.
The Philippine Star reported that a Japanese firm offered DOE an AI technology that could recognize data on power outages and determine if the transmission could adapt or if the energy storage could accommodate.
DOE Energy Utilization Management Bureau Director Patrick Aquino said the technology could single out the cause of plant outages and foresee probable challenges.
Furthermore, the firm claimed that the technology had 90% accuracy in its prognosis. With this, Aquino suggested that ERC and other generation companies now have the option to support the service.
