The Department of Energy (DOE) said fuel prices are set to increase this week, with diesel projected to post the largest adjustment among major petroleum products in the latest batch of pump price movements.
In its latest advisory covering May 26 to June 1, the DOE Oil Industry Management Bureau projected diesel and Diesel Plus prices to rise by as much as PHP 1.96 per liter.
Gasoline products across RON 91, RON 95, and RON 97 are expected to increase by up to PHP 1.60 per liter, while kerosene prices may rise by up to PHP 1.45 per liter.
The projected adjustments apply to estimated pump prices in Metro Manila and other highly urbanized areas.
Alongside the price advisory, the DOE also released updated fuel inventory figures as of May 22.
According to the agency, the country currently has an estimated total fuel supply equivalent to 44.82 days based on average daily demand.
Among the major petroleum products, gasoline inventory stood at 45.87 days, diesel at 41.07 days, and LPG at 41.49 days.
Meanwhile, jet fuel inventory was estimated at 66.41 days, fuel oil at 47.17 days, and kerosene at 138.93 days.
The DOE data also showed total country fuel inventory at around 78.08 million kiloliters based on average daily demand figures as of March 2026.
Diesel price movements are closely monitored because of their broad impact on transportation, logistics, agriculture, and industrial operations.
Higher diesel costs can also affect operating expenses across multiple sectors, potentially contributing to broader inflationary pressures.
The DOE’s inventory figures, meanwhile, serve as an indicator of the country’s fuel supply preparedness amid continued volatility in global oil markets.
With fuel prices remaining vulnerable to global market movements, how important will inventory management and supply diversification become in protecting the country from future price shocks?
