The Manila Electric Co. (MERALCO), through its subsidiary Spectrum, has launched a 98.28 kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar rooftop facility of North Bound Infinity Real Estate Development, Inc. in Bulacan province.
The solar project is expected to generate about 125,600 kWh of energy annually and enables the company to save PhP840,000 in energy costs annually.
The company will also lessen its carbon footprint by an estimated 89 metric tons, which equates to planting more than 4,100 trees and reducing more than 356,300 kilometers of vehicle travel per year.
“We are now in an era where a customer’s engagement with MERALCO is no longer just about provision of basic electric service. As we move towards a greener future, the One MERALCO Group goes beyond its mandate of delivering stable and reliable electric service to its customers,” Spectrum President Ferdinand Geluz said.
North Bound provides storage facility and delivery assistance in deliveries of goods and services between Metro Manila and surrounding provinces in the North Luzon region. It aims to increase operational efficiency while improving environmental stewardship with its solar rooftop project.
“Through Spectrum’s solar solutions, we are also able to deliver sustainable power supply within and outside the borders of MERALCO’s franchise area. For North Bound, this is just the beginning, and we will be with them as they embark on their journey towards being a sustainable business,” Geluz added.
North Bound has joined the list of companies that have partnered with MERALCO and Spectrum to help them achieve their environmental objectives through the use of renewable energy.
