MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) has assured Iloilo City residents and businesses that it is fully prepared to meet the city’s increasing electricity demand.
MORE Power president and chief executive officer Roel Castro said the company has seen a significant rise in demand since it took over five years ago, with a compounded annual growth rate of approximately 13 percent.
“Just to make it very simple, when we came in, there were about 62,000 customers. Now we’re already over 100,000,” Castro said.
Mayor Jerry Treñas requested the presentation to better understand the city’s growing energy needs and how MORE Power is addressing them.
To support this demand, MORE Power has completed the rehabilitation of its 25/30 megavolt-amperes (MVA) Molo substation and is planning to build a new substation in Arevalo district.
The company has also established substations in Megaworld and Diversion, with further plans to rehabilitate the Mandurriao substation.
With Iloilo City’s power demand now exceeding 120 megawatts, MORE Power has secured enough contracts to ensure a stable supply, particularly during the dry season.
Residents and businesses are encouraged to stay informed about developments in the city’s power infrastructure to ensure continued growth and stability.
