The National Electrification Administration (NEA), led by Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda, has initiated discussions with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to search for potential financing options aimed at supporting the capital expenditure requirements of Electric Cooperatives (ECs) across the country.
In a Facebook post, NEA said the planned financial support would focus on the construction, rehabilitation, and upgrading of sub-transmission assets, with the goal of enhancing the reliability, quality, and capacity of regional power infrastructure. By doing this, ECs are expected to improve the efficiency and stability of energy delivery to their service areas, benefiting end consumers.
The exploratory meeting brought together key stakeholders from both organizations, including ADB Principal Energy Specialist Shigeru Yamamura, ADB Energy Consultant Jose Barroco, NEA Technical Consultant Rowaldo Del Mundo, and NEA Department Manager Ivan Darwin Zamora.
These discussions showcase the strong bond between NEA and ADB as they continue to bolster the country’s energy sector and promote inclusive electrical access for all.
