Petron Corporation has secured the contract to build and operate a new Jet A-1 fuel farm at the Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA), expanding its aviation fuel infrastructure as passenger and flight activity grows in Central Visayas.

Under an agreement with Aboitiz InfraCapital Bohol Airport Corporation (ABAC), Petron will exclusively design, construct, operate and maintain the airport’s on-site fuel depot after emerging as the top-ranked bidder in a competitive selection process.

The PHP 340-million project will include three 477-kilolitre storage tanks, providing at least five days’ worth of fuel supply for the airport. Construction is targeted for completion in the third quarter of 2027 and will comply with the latest Joint Inspection Group (JIG) standards for aviation fuel facilities.

ABAC said the permanent fuel farm will improve supply reliability and support the airport’s current daily fuel demand of 102 kilolitres, comprising 59 kilolitres for domestic flights and 43 kilolitres for international operations.

“By partnering with an industry leader like Petron, we are securing a resilient, world-class fuel infrastructure that will ensure operational efficiency and safely accommodate the growing aviation demands of Bohol,” ABAC General Manager Aldwin Uy said.

The project expands Petron’s presence in the aviation fuel sector, adding to its operations at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.

“We are bringing our extensive operational expertise to BPIA, ensuring that the new fuel farm is built and operated in strict accordance with the latest Joint Inspection Group (JIG) standards to provide a safe, reliable, and seamless fuel supply chain,” said Jonathan F. Del Rosario, Petron vice president for Operations and Corporate Technical Services Group.

ABAC said facility rates will remain under its regulation to support an open-access framework should additional fuel suppliers enter the airport in the future.
