Rockport Power is expanding its partnerships with distribution utilities and electric cooperatives to help more customers access retail electricity market programs that allow them to choose their own power supplier.
The company said its growing partnership footprint is intended to make government-led customer choice programs more accessible to the public. These programs include Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA), the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), and the Retail Aggregation Program (RAP).
RCOA allows qualified large power users to choose their electricity supplier, while the GEOP allows eligible customers to shift to renewable energy supply in specific. The RAP, meanwhile, allows smaller customers to group their electricity demand together and negotiate electricity prices as a group.
Rockport Power said it is growing its presence through tie-ups with Manila Electric Co. (Meralco), Batangas I Electric Cooperative, Inc., Nueva Ecija II Electric Cooperative, Inc. – Area 2, and soon with Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative.
The company said the partnerships reflect its expanding reach across the country, including further south into Mindanao.
“We see our role not just as a supplier, but as a partner in helping Filipinos find real savings,” Rockport Power President Marvee Espejo said. “By working with local utilities, we are helping customers unlock more competitive and optimized energy solutions,” he added.
Espejo said collaboration with local distributors is essential to building a market that responds to customer needs.
By expanding its presence in these service areas, Rockport Power said it aims to raise awareness that customers are no longer limited to a single traditional supply option.
“Our goal is to make these programs accessible and practical options for anyone seeking to cut their energy costs,” Espejo said.
