Samal residents hold prayer rally against power setbacks

To protest against the continuous power setbacks in the area, power consumers in the Island Garden City of Samal in Davao del Norte held an interfaith prayer rally.

In a report by Philippine Star, the prayer rally, which was called “Panalangin ng mga Konsumerante,” was led by Davao del Norte Governor Edwin Jubahib and Island Garden City of Samal Mayor Al David Uy.

The move was to pressure the Northern Davao Electric Cooperative Inc. (NORDECO) to deliver adequate service and cost-effective electricity rates in Davao del Norte.

Uy brought up that the province needs an ample amount of power supply as it not only affected the economy of the island but also its tourism industry, as well as its water supply.

Jubahib backed this appeal as he stressed that this fight for supply had been going on for a long time.

The governor also called on President Marcos Jr. to hear their request.
