SPC Power appeals ERC fine

SPC-ERC

SPC Power Corporation said it has appealed the Php4 million fine the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) imposed on the firm over the excessive outages of the Panay Diesel Power Plant (PDPP).

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Monday, SPC Power said its subsidiary SPC Island Power Corporation (SIPC) filed a motion for reconsideration on October 29, 2021.

SIPC was fined Php4.02 million, as the PDPP’s Unit 3 registered 98 days of unplanned outages, exceeding the allowable 14-day maximum outage days for diesel power plants. The firm was one of the 17 power generation companies probed by the ERC following the Luzon Red Alerts in May and June 2021.

SIPC further said in the disclosure that it has yet to receive the ERC’s decision on its appeal.
