Teleperformance (TP) Philippines has intensified its sustainability initiatives, with 60% of its nationwide energy consumption now sourced from renewables.
In a Solarquarter report, as of September 2024, TP Philippines has reduced its energy consumption by 35.8 million kilowatt-hours (kWh), translating to significant carbon footprint reductions. This is equivalent to removing 5,598 gasoline-powered vehicles from the roads for a year or the carbon absorption of 396,806 tree seedlings grown for a decade.
Chief Executive Officer Rahul Jolly stressed the importance of the transition, stating that the company remains dedicated to reducing its environmental impact and fostering a sustainable future. He reaffirmed TP’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy efforts to help create a healthier planet.
Globally, TP Group has aligned its emission reduction targets with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to support the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C. As one of the first 100 signatories of The Climate Pledge, TP has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2040—ten years ahead of the Paris Agreement target.
The company collaborates with One Tree Planted, a global reforestation initiative, contributing over US$500,000 to tree-planting efforts. In the Philippines, TP is restoring 400 hectares in Aurora province to provide a safe habitat for the endangered Philippine Eagle while supporting local communities.
Among its site-specific sustainability efforts, TP’s Sucat facility is the first to operate entirely on clean energy. The Bacolod and Sucat sites have achieved carbon reductions of 2,729 and 2,033 metric tons, respectively. TP has also reduced emissions by 1,495 metric tons through its Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) upgrade initiative.
To promote green workforce mobility, TP conducted a 2023 employee commuting survey to explore ways to lower transport-related emissions. Volunteer-driven environmental initiatives also include beach cleanups, relief operations, and school repair projects in Cebu and Davao.
Teleperformance’s commitment to environmental responsibility is further recognized through ISO 14001 certification for Environmental Management Systems and ISO 45001 certification for Occupational Health and Safety from Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS).
The company also actively participates in Earth Hour, saving 27,123 kWh of energy and preventing 19.2 metric tons of CO2 emissions through an annual lights-off initiative.
TP Philippines remains dedicated to environmental stewardship, working closely with government agencies and environmental organizations to ensure long-term sustainability efforts.
