Over 1,135 trees have been planted in Bulacan and La Union through a joint reforestation effort led by Berde Renewables and Berde Rooftop, in partnership with Holcim Philippines, Helix Mining and Development Corporation (HMDC), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), and local community stakeholders.
The Bulacan activity, held on June 25 in Brgy. San Mateo, Norzagaray during Arbor Day, saw about 1,000 fruit-bearing trees planted across one hectare, alongside “KapaligiRUN,” a community event promoting environmental awareness. The La Union initiative on July 12 added 135 Narra trees.
Aligned with the DENR’s National Greening Program and the Board of Investments’ tree planting directive, the initiative aims to support ecological restoration, flood control, and soil erosion prevention.
“Our commitment to excellent customer-service and partnership with our clients goes further than providing renewable energy solutions. We make sure that Berde contributes to their sustainability goals and we remain compliant to our government partners who are all a big part of our major purpose in this industry,” said Limuel Zamora, Permit and Compliance Manager at Berde Renewables. “Through efforts like this tree planting initiative, we want to help restore ecosystems while building a greener future for Filipinos.”
Holcim Philippines Environment Officer Kim Oblades said, “We are not merely restoring forests; we are sowing seeds of hope, resilience, and a sustainable future for generations to come. This collaboration clearly demonstrates what can be achieved when like-minded organizations unite with shared purpose and commitment to protect our planet.”
Berde Renewables and Holcim Philippines said they will continue working with government agencies, industry partners, and local communities on sustainability initiatives alongside their core operations.
