Dyna Drug shifts warehouse operations to geothermal power with First Gen

Dyna Drug Corporation has begun powering part of its warehouse operations with renewable energy after entering into a supply agreement with First Gen Corporation, marking a shift toward cleaner electricity for its logistics and distribution facilities.

Under the agreement, which took effect on November 26, 2025, First Gen will supply at least 145 kilowatts (kW) of geothermal energy to Dyna Drug’s warehouse operations in Pasig and Quezon City. The electricity will be sourced from the Bacon-Manito geothermal power plant, a facility operated by First Gen subsidiary Energy Development Corporation.

Dyna Drug President Jacinto Dy said the move aligns with the company’s long-term sustainability goals and reflects its commitment to taking concrete steps to reduce its environmental impact.

“This initiative is part of our long-term vision to integrate sustainability into our operations, backed by concrete actions,” Dy said.

First Gen Chief Customer Engagement Officer Carlo Vega said geothermal energy is particularly suited for pharmaceutical operations that require uninterrupted power supply.

“Geothermal energy provides reliable, 24/7 power, which is critical for facilities handling sensitive pharmaceutical products,” Vega said.

Founded in 1915, Dyna Drug now serves more than 3,000 retail drugstores nationwide, while First Gen operates over 1,700 megawatts of combined renewable energy capacity from geothermal, hydro, wind, and solar power plants across the country.

As more companies look to secure stable power while cutting emissions, how will partnerships between renewable energy providers and commercial firms shape the country’s transition to cleaner electricity?
