Power transmission operations in Mindanao have returned to normal following the onslaught of Tropical Depression Vicky, which resulted in a landslide causing damages to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines’ (NGCP) substation in Bislig City, Surigao Del Sur last Friday (December 18).
The substation’s switchyard and gantry were particularly hit due to Vicky’s heavy rains.
As a result, four 69-kilovolt transmission lines were affected. The lines connect the Bislig facility to San Fernando, Bukidnon; Trento, Agusan Del Sur; and Baganga, Davao Oriental, where Vicky first made landfall.
Among the affected power utilities affected by the landslide were the Surigao Del Sur I Electric Cooperative, Davao Oriental Electric Cooperative, and the Agusan Del Sur Electric Cooperative.
