Alternergy taps Envision to secure wind turbine generators

Alternergy, Envision

Alternergy Holdings Corporation is joining forces with Envision Energy to secure wind turbine generators (WTG) for two wind power projects in Luzon.

Manila Bulletin reported that the Shanghai-based firm Envision went through a meticulous evaluation to be able to supply Alabat and Tanay wind power projects with 162 megawatts (MW) wind turbines.

The Turbine Supply contracts involve the design, engineering, manufacturing, and delivery services for a variety of wind turbine generators (WTGs) with rated capacities of 6.5 MW and 8 MW. Additionally, a 10-year service and maintenance agreement was integrated into the contracts.

In keeping with Alternergy’s expedited project pipeline, both projects are anticipated to be operational by 2025.

The Alabat Wind project is the company’s first wind venture in Quezon, while the Tanay Wind project is its third wind investment, situated in Rizal.

Earlier Alternergy, along with Shell Overseas Investment B.V., surrendered the Calavite Passage offshore wind (OSW) project to the government last year.

Although three locations were poised for OSW development exploration, the Calavite passage encountered technical problems, making it difficult to advance.
