Basic Energy Corporation (BEC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Pangasinan Electric Cooperative I (PANELCO) to carry out studies on the proposed 50-megawatt (MW) solar power project.

In a report by the Manila Standard, Basic Energy said that the MOU is related to the development of a solar project and battery energy storage system.

The proposed project would be implemented in two stages, with a 10 MW capacity in the first phase and a 40 MW capacity in the second.

The firm also declared that the purpose of this collaboration is to supervise the distribution asset study (DAS) and distribution impact study (DIS) for the PANELCO I facilities. These studies are essential to guarantee the reliability of the infrastructure.

Earlier, BEC collaborated with Japanese firm, Renova Inc., signing an MOU for the development of the 50 MW Mabini wind project in Batangas. Spanning 4,860 hectares, the Mabini project is expected to be fully operational by 2027.
