BYD Cars Philippines, in partnership with the Department of Tourism and ACMobility, completed a 22-day nationwide electric vehicle (EV) drive that set two Guinness World Records, as part of broader efforts to demonstrate the viability of long-distance EV travel in the Philippines.
The convoy covered more than 3,500 kilometers and passed through 102 cities and municipalities, traversing Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao from Ilocos Norte to General Santos City.
The campaign recorded two Guinness World Records for:
The initiative forms part of the “Drive Electric. Love Pinas.” campaign, which aims to promote the use of electric vehicles for long-distance and inter-island travel.
The journey also served as a test of the country’s growing EV infrastructure, particularly the charging network operated by ACMobility.
“The backbone of this over 3,500-kilometer journey was the ACMobility Philippine EV Spine Network, with more than 160 ACMobility charging points strategically placed across the country,” according to the BYD website. “From Robinsons Pagadian to provincial PTT stations, the infrastructure proved that nationwide EV travel is a practical reality.”
Beyond range and charging, the campaign also highlighted additional EV capabilities, including the ability to operate across various types of terrain and the use of vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology, which allows vehicles to power external equipment.
The partnership with the Department of Tourism also positions electric mobility as part of broader efforts to promote sustainable travel, particularly as fuel prices continue to fluctuate.
