Five German energy solutions companies are currently exploring potential opportunities in the country together with local firms.
These German firms include Solar Next AG, MIG mbH, Hormann KG, eraser GmbH, and Ecoligo GmbH.
In a report by the Manila Bulletin, German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCGI) Executive Director Christopher Zimmer said that the visiting German companies have the “advanced technical know-how in the field of energy efficiency.”
Zimmer added that they “are happy to provide the stage for them to connect with both key public and private stakeholders in the Philippines.”
The German delegation will explore partnership potentials with its Philippine counterparts through business-to-business (B2B) meetings, project site visits, and other networking activities.
GPCGI president Stefan Schmitz said that a number of German companies are already involved in the energy efficiency industry in the country and the said delegation is a symbol of increased potential and investor interest.
Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) president Alexander Ablaza said that the energy efficiency industry poses a huge potential for investment opportunities in the Philippines “and can generate more green jobs.”
Department of Energy (DOE) director, Patrick Aquino said that the country looks to have renewable energy as well as energy efficiency to help achieve energy sustainability targets.
Aquino added that the DOE is working on policies that will effectively implement the objectives of Republic Act 11285 or the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act.
