Mitsubishi Power and LNGPH have signed a long-term agreement covering parts supply and maintenance services for the 1,200-megawatt (MW) Ilihan Combined Cycle Power Plant in Batangas, a move aimed at supporting the reliability of one of Luzon’s key gas-fired generation facilities.
The Long-Term Parts and Services Agreement (LTPSA) was signed between Mitsubishi Power’s local after-sales arm, MHI Power (Philippines) Plant Services Corporation (MHI-PSC), and South Premiere Power Corporation (SPPC), a corporate unit of LNGPH.
Under the agreement, MHI-PSC will provide critical parts and services for the plant’s M501G gas turbines, including hot parts and spare parts supply, repair works, and technical advisory services.
The deal extends a partnership that dates back to 2002, when Mitsubishi Power supplied the gas turbines used at the Ilihan facility.
The Ilihan plant forms part of LNGPH’s integrated liquefied natural gas (LNG) import and regasification terminal and gas-to-power complex in Batangas. LNGPH has a total installed capacity of 2.5 gigawatts (GW), supplying natural gas-fired generation to the Luzon grid through SPPC and Excellent Energy Resources Inc. (EERI).
“This new agreement builds on more than two decades of proven operation of our M501G gas turbines at the Ilihan Combined Cycle Power Plant and underscores our commitment to delivering world-class energy solutions to our customers,” Akihiro Ondo, Managing Director and CEO of Mitsubishi Power Asia Pacific, said.
“Through this long-term partnership with LNGPH and SPPC, we are not only maintaining vital infrastructure, but ultimately are helping provide stable, flexible power generation to meet the Philippines’ evolving needs for decades to come,” he added.
Yari A. Miralao, President and CEO of LNGPH, said the agreement supports the continued operation of the facility, which remains a significant source of power for the Luzon grid.
“This LTPSA represents more than a long-term agreement, as it reflects a decades-long partnership built on trust, operational excellence, and a shared commitment to energy security. Together with Mitsubishi Power, we will continue enhancing the reliability and efficiency of our assets to help power the Philippines’ long-term economic growth,” he said.
LNGPH represents investments from Chromite Gas Holdings Inc., a joint venture between Meralco PowerGen Corp. and Therma Natgas Power Inc., alongside San Miguel Global Power Holdings Corp.
