Government-owned Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) has appointed its SVP for Energy Business Graciela Barleta as its Officer-In-Chief (OIC) President and CEO.

Barleta takes over from PNOC President and CEO Reuben Lista, who passed away on August 31, and will do so until the board elects its next regular president.

PNOC was established under Presidential Decree 334 in November 1973 to initially provide and maintain an adequate and stable supply of petroleum in the wake of the oil crisis that year. From then, it expanded to exploration and petrochemical activities.

The firm, through subsidiary PNOC-Exploration Corporation, owns ten percent of the Malampaya gas-to-power projects and was awarded several exploration service contracts in the West Philippine Sea.
