To boost the solar capacity in the country, Trina Solar, a Chinese photovoltaic (PV) and smart energy solution company announced its partnership with the Citicore Group.
Philippine Star reported that both parties have formally signed a master services agreement to supply 700 megawatts (MW) of solar modules. These modules will be used across the Philippines by Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation (CREC) and are expected to be delivered in 2024.
The power plants are part of CREC’s one-gigawatt (GW) project pipeline to advance its primary target of achieving five GW within five years.
The procurement for these solar modules will not only aid in expanding CREC’s capacity but will also align with the government’s Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP).
CREC’s President and CEO Oliver Tan emphasized the role of this procurement in fulfilling their commitment to the Filipino populace, moving towards a goal of one GW per year in renewable energy capacity by securing PV panels from Trina Solar.
Additionally, Trina Solar Asia Pacific president Todd Li said this recent agreement marked their second collaboration with CREC. Trina Solar had previously worked with CREC on deploying solar PV modules for the 125-MWp Lumbangan solar power plant and the 72-MWp Luntal solar power plant in Batangas earlier this year.
Li expressed contentment about continuing their collaboration with CREC, highlighting this agreement as a testament to this goal, and Trina Solar aimed to strengthen its partnership with Citicore, contributing to the Philippines’ transition towards renewable energy.
