DOE confirms over 6,600MW in renewable projects awarded under GEA-3

The Department of Energy (DOE) has confirmed that several developers have formally accepted awards under the third round of the Green Energy Auction (GEA-3), unlocking a combined renewable energy capacity of 6,677.218 megawatts to be delivered between 2025 and 2035.
Among the awardees, Pan Pacific Renewable Power Phils. Corp. secured three hydroelectric power projects in Apayao, including the 150 MW Gened 1, 150 MW Gened 2, and the 2,000 MW Maton Pumped-Storage Hydropower Project.
Coheco Badeo Corporation accepted its award for the 500 MW Kibungan Pumped-Storage Hydropower Project in Benguet.
Prime Infra affiliates Olympia Violago Water and Power, Inc. and Ahunan Power, Inc. will undertake the 600 MW Wawa Pumped-Storage 1 Project in Rizal and the 1,400 MW Pakil Pumped-Storage Project in Laguna, respectively.
San Roque Hydropower, Inc., an affiliate of the San Miguel Group, confirmed acceptance for three pumped-storage projects: the 800 MW San Roque Lower East and 800 MW San Roque West projects in Itogon, Benguet, as well as the 250 MW Aklan Pumped-Storage Project in Malay, Aklan.
Energy Development Corporation (EDC) and its affiliate Bac-Man Geothermal Inc. also accepted awards for two geothermal power facilities: the 5.645 MW Bago Binary Geothermal Power Plant – Unit 1 in Negros Occidental and the 21.573 MW Tanawon Geothermal Power Plant – Unit 1 in Sorsogon.
According to the DOE, these projects are part of the government’s push to scale up clean energy capacity and meet the country’s renewable energy targets.
