AdventPower Inc., the retail electricity supply (RES) arm of Aboitiz Power Corporation, is setting its sights on broader adoption of the Energy Regulatory Commission’s (ERC) Retail Aggregation Program (RAP) after securing its first aggregation contract with the SM Group.
Under the agreement, AdventPower will supply renewable energy to four educational facilities under SM Prime Holdings—including Asia Pacific College and National University campuses—through an aggregated power sourcing model. Signed in Pasay City, marks a strategic pivot for AdventPower toward serving clustered end-users under RAP, a key customer choice program of the ERC.
The deal is seen as a starting point for broader adoption, with both companies expected to scale similar initiatives in the coming months as part of their push for more sustainable and inclusive energy solutions.
“This partnership reinforces the company’s promise of ‘Always-on Innovation’, opening more opportunities for customized and sustainable energy solutions, even for aggregated end-users,” said AdventPower President James Yu.
RAP enables multiple electricity end-users within a franchise area—such as schools, offices, or networked facilities—to pool their power demand and contract a licensed RES. For AdventPower, the deal with SM schools signals its readiness to scale this model across more commercial and institutional partners.
SM Prime Holdings Chief Finance Officer John Ong noted the deal’s alignment with the company’s sustainability efforts. “By securing access to more reliable power, we allow our affiliate schools to focus on what matters most – educating and shaping tomorrow’s leaders,” he said.
ERC Chairperson and CEO Atty. Monalisa Dimalanta, who witnessed the ceremonial signing, encouraged more enterprises to explore RAP and other customer choice programs. “What good would you like your choice today to contribute? What service does your choice make in our nation’s evolving energy journey?” she asked, underscoring the long-term impact of informed energy decisions.
AdventPower, which supplies over 500 commercial and industrial facilities nationwide, is part of the Aboitiz Group—the market leader in retail electricity demand with a 28.07% share, according to the ERC.
