The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has activated its Integrated Disaster Action Plan (IDAP) in anticipation of Severe Tropical Storm Emong, Tropical Storm Dante, and the intensified southwest monsoon or habagat, implementing measures to safeguard the country’s power transmission system.
In a statement, NGCP said preparations include “ensuring the reliability of communications equipment, availability of hardware materials and supplies necessary for the repair of damage to facilities, as well as the positioning of line crews in strategic areas to facilitate immediate restoration work.”
These preemptive actions are part of NGCP’s IDAP, which outlines standard protocols to ensure the operational readiness of power transmission assets during adverse weather conditions.
As of 1:00 PM on July 24, NGCP reported that all transmission lines and facilities remain under normal operations.
